Refuge from the rain...

beneath rows of oak and maple. I am grateful to the person(s) who planted these two rows of trees a few decades ago. This is a peaceful, sheltered strip of land between a busy road and a sleepy subdivision. Trees make cities so much better in so many ways.

I live a few blocks from here. It is a favourite place to stand during windstorms, both when the trees are in leaf and when branches are bare. In summer the trees thrash; in winter, they howl.
