Wild goose chase

We went to Westham Island to check out the Snow Geese. They are there in large numbers, but were always far away or up high.

Never mind. There's a lot to see on the island. A field of pumpkins on the way into the Duck Factory (our preschool-aged daughter's term for the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary). On the way back out, this field was filled with people picking pumpkins.

Taken from a moving car, there's a lot going on here. There is a large flock of Snow Geese descending to the fields on the right-hand side. You can also see the dockside cranes at the Deltaway Coal port (click on the picture to see). And there's a tractor.

Another moving-car picture. Blueberry bushes moving quickly in the foreground, volcano moving slowing in the background.

And way up there, more geese. And more geese to come.

"The Duck Factory"! I like that. It sure seems that way, when you get to the parking lot.

I'd forgotten about the Snow Geese. We will have to get out that way, soon.
