First of the year.

Western Tiger Swallowtail, Papilio rutulus, on hawthorn blossoms.
Terra Nova Rural Park, Richmond BC.

This is the first Western Tiger Swallowtail I've seen this year. This far north those that overwintered (as pupae) start to fly in May. I rarely see one this undamaged. It must be freshly minted.
