Things to look at, other than birds.

Son and I went for a walkabout at Terra Nova today, and saw many birds, white ones especially. But we saw other things too, some bird-related, others not.

Fig. 1 (bird-related). Beneath reflected trees: trails made by dabbling ducks in the silty mud of a flooded ditch.

Fig. 2 (not bird-related). The horizontal forest of the foreshore. More wood than you could shake a stick at. And a single, puffy cloud, clutching at the mountains.

Fig. 3 (not bird-related). A water-worn and partly burnt tree-cookie five feet in diameter. Or is it a stump? It isn't buttressed like a cedar. Black cottonwood?
