Father's Day.

Father with Groundhog, circa 1937. Original source unknown.

I remember my father lifting me to the kitchen window to show me raccoons walking along the fence.

Child with Groundhog, circa 1937. Original source unknown.

And now I lift my children to the window to show them raccoons walking along the fence. This is how zoologists propagate.

Very cool. My dad has been dead for 20 years or so. He was a (complicated) strange person, but he did teach me to appreciate wildlife.

My father died 18 years ago. In a quiet way he was a nature nut, and my fondest memories of him involve nature watching.
