A few dozen eggs.

Moth eggs (?)

This patch of eggs on a Crocosmia leaf was pointed out to me by Doreen of the Richmond Garden Club. The leaf is about a half-inch wide at the broader end of the egg-patch, which gives an idea of how tiny the eggs are. I'm pretty sure they are from a moth of some sort, but haven't been able to narrow it down. Any ideas?

No, but I bet you figure it out.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but so far I'm stumped. I'll have to stake out the plants.

I found a pic in one of my garden books. I emailed you a scan of it. Maybe it will help.

Thanks for the picture, Spiny. It supports the moth verdict. If colour is important, I would guess yellow woolly bear, if they are found here.
