A change of vestments.

Last week. The long summer was stretching hard to reach deep into October. A high pressure system was parked on top for a final few days.

Then Friday, the ridge collapsed and a storm roared in. The trees have gone from ambivalent to decidedly autumnal. The familar grey sky is back, and filled with geese, Canada and Snow, flying in every which direction. Spurred by these signs, we bought pumpkins.

It did seem to change overnight, didn't it? The colors have been pretty fabulous this year as last, the result of the longer span of warm days, I imagine. How many pumpkins did you get? Is Halloween a big deal up north too?

Our colours are very good, but not quite as bright as last year, which was outstanding. We have four pumpkins so far. We usually end up with about eight. Halloween in BC is not quite as big a deal as it is in America (based on my experience living in CA), but it is bigger than in other parts of Canada.

My purse keeps getting filled with leaves, which I forget are in there and then they crumble up and then I add more...
