A time of hoarding.

The kids applied their horse chestnut-gathering skills/instincts to a new resource:

Iris seeds! They ransacked their uncle's garden and left him a heap of wealth on the patio.

That is so cool! Does he have any plans for the seeds? Do iris come true to seed, anyway? They are beautiful, whatever happens. Good work, kids!

Karen, I'm pretty sure the seeds are planless. I don't know what happens if you plant them (or how to stress them appropriately to help them germinate). It was a magic moment, a spontaneous melding of discovery and greed. Interesting to me: an equivalent stack of diamonds would have less intrinsic value.
