The heron.

I'm tempted to give this bird its own blog, The Heron, or Daily Heron, or some such name. The bird has lived at Garden City Park since the fall, and is a conspicuous presence, always up to something.

It's not shy. Here it perches on the railing of a footbridge. Then, finally tiring of attention, it flies out over the pond, croaking insults at a raft of Canada Geese. It circles back to find a perch,

a tree in need of a branch.

If there's a vote, I vote for the "Daily Heron."

You certainly have captured some great heron photos. If you blog them separately, I will be happy to "follow". Even though we see them fairly regularly since we live close to Burnaby Lake, another sighting of a Great Blue Heron is always a special event for me.

Yes, Daily Heron, indeed. I love seeing those birds. We spotted one fishing in the river on our walk yesterday.

I third it, and would read The Daily Heron from cover to cover. That particular tree has shown up here before, am I right? It makes such a great posing spot for vain fowl.

I add in my pennyworth: yes, the Daily Heron sounds a great source of avian news (& I live pretty close to Dylan Thomas' 'heron-priested shore'in Wales, UK!).

Thank you all for your input. Daily Heron it is. I'm setting up a heron blog on Wordpress. Once I feel comfortable with it, I'll let you know.

P.S., Karen, Good remembering, very similar, but the other was a hawk in a hemlock. The heron is in a Douglas fir.
