Tracking the wiley VATH.

I'm still searching for that definitive VATH (Varied Thrush) photo. They are notoriously skittish birds.

I got close yesterday, but still, a branch in the way.

I don't know why his mouth was open; he wasn't vocalizing. Mocking me, perhaps. He knew I was too hurried to take a sharp shot.

Interesting - quite different to our European thrushes.

Pretty bird though. Love that orange color.

Sue, they're quite different from other North American thrushes too. They're a Pacific northwest icon.

K & V, That orange flames among the darkest greens of the rainforest.

I've been making the same search and I haven't done nearly as well as you.
