A break in the rain.

It was nice of the rain to stop for a while and give the island a chance to drain a bit. Paulik Park is flooded in the lowest areas.

Elsewhere, signs of life: the staminate catkins of Corylus (hazelnut) are starting to fluff out and glow against the background.

But are clearly outshone by the Hamamelis.

I'm not sure which cultivar this is. It is the orangest living thing I saw today.

That looks a lot like mine, which I believe is Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena.' Did you sniff it?

Karen, I forgot to sniff. Will do, next time.
