Not so fast.

Spring!

Nearing the end of this warm January, it appears many plants are ahead of schedule. The leaf buds of the most excellent tree peony are beginning to unfurl. But really, it's difficult to get excited about spring when we haven't had much of a winter--except for the darkness. We did have that.

My tree peonies are budding heavily also, along with everything else. I'm starting to think that Spring may explode here any day.

Cindee,

I looked at pictures from last year. The peony was at this stage on March 1st.

It's so easy to be lulled into a false sense of Spring. I have to stop myself from digging in the dirt and planting anything and everything. Lovely photo.

Here in Wales, UK we have had one of our coldest/snowiest winters for many years. Lovely now, though, to see the snowdrops appearing.

So early! What if winter returns now? How badly could that damage these plants that have decided spring is here? I guess that's Mother Nature.
