Out on the mudflat, mulling over mudthings. The tide is about to turn. Hitch up your pants and head for the beach.
Ooh, ooh, ooh! Another good sign! Waiting for spring can be so exciting. ~karen
I do hope wigeons are more romantic than their cousins the mallards. A writeup I read a couple years ago in the NYTimes about their mating habits left me kind of cold.http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/01/science/01duck.html
What about the diving ducks? We saw lots of both today on a bird-related expedition with the 1st grade set. Wigeons, Mallards, Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Mergansers (Common and Hooded), and more. Fun time to be looking at their behavior!
"The dabbling ducks are pairing up, parlez vous" - makes me want to sing! It's comforting to know that spring is in the air SOMEWHERE! ~ks
What a handsome couple!
