Posts post.

Tree Swallow house on post. Yes, the birds are back.

Largely-ignored sign on post.

Mysterious tin cylinder on post.

(There was another, painted in exactly the same haphazard, bicolored way, attached to the top of a topped young cedar. I have a theory: They are there to exclude certain things from climbing up and accessing something that is yet to be placed on top.)

I am working on my bird ID - this one is different from the violet-green swallow because the white does not go up above the eye??

Weird about the cylinders. Maybe a mistaken attempt to provide additional swallow condos?

If you want to hate Seattle a little bit, read this: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2011688985_swallows24m.html

Yes, you're correct about the ID.

As for Seattle & swallows. What they did is probably in violation of state, federal and (definitely) international law. Someone deserves to be smacked down for that.
