Well, here's what yesterday's Bald-faced Hornet produced today. Two cells, and the start of the paper covering. It gives an idea of how industrious these creatures are. I felt it would be unfair to let her continue striving to the point of complete enclosure, egg-laying and so on--and then knock the thing down.

So I scraped the incipient nest off with a hockey stick.

Sorry lady. Better luck elsewhere.

It IS pretty incredible that she could be so little yet work so hard to accoomplish so much! A labor of love? I'm glad you had heart and destroyed it now as opposed to later. ~karen
