Pollen head.

I've replaced many of the perennials in the back garden with veggies, but retained the mallows so the bees can get their fixes. Buzzzz.

Beautiful, and so I'd definitely hang onto it, but if you want a great bee-attractor for vegetable gardens, you cannot do better than basil. Friends of ours with an organic farm edge all their fields with it!

Kale flowers they love too. I always let mine bolt just for that reason! Really, taking out perennials? Bold! Did you move them elsewhere or just give up on them entirely?

Well good. I have both basil and kale, not yet flowering. I moved some of the perennials. Others, having run amok (leggy daisies, Centaurea, oregano), were yanked.
