It's a black morph of the Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis). They were introduced to Stanley Park in Vancouver in the early 1900s and have spread throughout the region. We see black, gray, even brown ones. I think you probably have the Western Gray Squirrel (S. griseus).

Ooooooo! And a black one, too! What a handsome devil. We only have the grey ones here in Southern California.
I've only seen a black squirrel once ..when in Canada...and I was thrilled...it is so beautiful
