Green art for Earth Day. Except that it's blue.

A recent arrival at Garden City Park--a grove of blue trees.  Its creator is artist Konstantin Dimopoulos.  According to the City Website, "Dimopoulos’s public installations focus on social and environmental themes and The Blue Trees project highlights the importance of trees to the planet’s survival. The temporary installation is timely as well as, the United Nations has declared 2011 the International Year of the Forest to raise awareness about the benefits of forests to current and future generations."

Reportedly the blue gradually wears off, and eventually the trees will be moved to become part of the city's roadside forest.

Happy Earth Day.

Very interesting idea...it sure does draw your eye to them. They stand out.

See, I would have gone with something in a nice taupe, but then no one would have noticed.

Au contraire, Murr. I've noticed your taupe trees.

Blue trees? I believe I've seen these in a Dr Seuss field guide...
