Snow above, rain below.

Grouse Mtn.  From a train track in Richmond today.

There's a big whirling low pressure system spinning arms of rain northward along the coast.  We've had a lot, the ditches are full and flowing, but so far we've gotten off relatively lightly compared to those in southern Puget Sound, Oregon and northern California.  As you see above, the mountains are prettily snow-crested.  Ski folks are happy.

Lovely. We won the local foothill rainfall contest (no, I'm not competitive, why do you ask?), getting 8.21 inches in 72 hours. SO much better than last fall, the precipitation equivalent of crickets or tumbleweeds blowing by. Phew!

Thanks, Richard

bb: Congratulations! Some of the most impressive rainfall I ever experienced was in CA. Very dramatic. Good work, California.

Wow, great photo. I can never get enough of those snow-capped mountains. Glad to be living below the snow line - so far.
