Rufous Hummingbird One.

Female Rufous Hummingbird, perching on a twig.

Sticking out her tongue to test the breeze,
Or show her displeasure in me.

Rufous hummingbirds are notoriously aggressive.

But, I've also heard they're really fun at a party.

She's clearly demonstrating both.

I think Hummingbirds also eat very tiny flying insects. I remember when I was a kid there was a small bee/fly that, if you held out your finger very, very still, it would light on it. Maybe she's trying to catch a gnat!
Have a great week-end!

bb: A think a lot of it has to do with fermented sugar water.

Lea: Could be. It was very gnatty yesterday (when I took the pictures).
